Screen Prints
A print inspired by my favorite childhood book, The Giving Tree.
For this piece, I wanted to make a print with a heavy illustrative feel. I used my digital skills on illustrator to create the base, then printed and continued traditional drawing on top until I reached my goal design. This was then translated into stencils for the final print.
This was a project focusing on the use of color theory. I wanted to make an effective image while maintaining as much simplicity as possible. I worked with translucent paint and wax emulsion to give the piece texture and add interest.
Sculpture
This is a basic representation of mental illness. If you imagine your mind as say, a cabin in a beautiful forest, mental illness is the vines that creep through and overtake everything.
This piece aimed to show what it can feel like dealing with anxiety or sense of ones self when dealing with mental health issues. It's easy to say go through the door, but when dealing with this you can feel shattered and like the door is just out of reach.
This aimed to show what the process of getting set up with medication can feel like. Many people think antidepressants are just "happy pills" when it couldn't be further from the truth. It takes a strong person to deal with medication and the side effects it can have.
This was sculpted from clay which was then used to make a mold. I casted the base in plastic, as well as all the extra legs and bugs that were adding afterwards. Once casted it was assembled and painted.
This was a scale recreation of the model used for the Grand Budapest Hotel facade. Made using a variety of techniques, it is made of foam, plastic, balsa wood, and other materials.
This multi-media sculpture is one of my favorites. It's made of felt, gears, paper, fabric, and wood. I used my painting skills to give the weathered appearance of the basket and lining.
This was part of a self-directed sculpture project. A 1/12 scale dining chair, complete with tufted back rest. This was a challenge because my design had such a tall back, but I was able to remedy the tipping by adding a weight to the chair seat.
This was another self-directed miniature piece. This time I wanted more of a challenge, so I went down to 1/24 scale. The recliner has tufting along the foot rest to give the feel of cushions and can sit with the footrest in line or reclined.
Paintings
This large scale painting is my take on the notion of career "success". People should not be restrained to a cookie-cutter definition. Be the black sheep, break stereotypes, don't define yourself by others definitions of what you should be doing.
Digital
This was an image made for a startup podcast. I illustrated each team member while trying to capture their personality.
A zine inspired by 1924us. I used my own photography and design to try to emulate their style. Easy to print off and fold to make your own copy!
This project was to create a storyboard for an animated web banner. The goal was to create an advertisement that would also fit with an existing brands aesthetic.
This project was to raise awareness about net neutrality through propaganda. I wanted minimal type with a strong visual message to entice the reader to research more. The image shows a girl screaming, with her hair being tugged by a hand, but is it hers?
This poster was used to push myself outside of my comfort. I was given content, and was not allowed to have the content take up more than a small percent of the page.
